And the old fashioned cut & paste version...

League stars reunite for BBC

By DEREK ROBINS
January 24, 2007

LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN stars Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith are returning to the BBC with new comedy Psychoville.

Steve told us: “It’s a character comedy mystery in which different characters are linked in a strange way. It’s been inspired by shows such as 24 and Lost.

“It’s being developed for the BBC and we’re busy writing scripts for it and plan to appear in it.”

But he admitted there are no plans for a League Of Gentlemen return to Royston Vasey, home of the "local shop for local people." The BBC comedy ran for three series and there was a spin-off film.

Steve added: “I think that it’s wrong to say that it’s completely finished, but we feel that it’s time to leave it to one side.

“But some of the characters could re-appear in other projects. It’s hard to leave behind something which is so established.”

Fellow League Of Gentlemen stars Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson are also working together on other ideas but all four are also developing their own projects.

Steve himself is appearing in two new ITV1 comedies Benidorm with Johnny Vegas and The Bad Mother’s Handbook with Catherine Tate next month.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

The League of Gentlemen TV series was actually called Psychoville in Japan...if that's not a too geeky fact

So now we know...

I'm glad they've decided to stay with the BBC (even though it treated the 3rd series so shoddily!)
There is something about commercial breaks that spoils the enjoyment of even the very best television.

Firstly......WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so glad to hear they're getting into writing something new, it sounds like it could be very good. I'd possibly be wary if it was anyone other than the League but I trust them...though I'm not keen on the title (and hehe Debs- I liked the geeky fact...i had read that before but thanks for the reminder!)

I took it to mean that Jez and Mark are not working on Psychoville but are working together on a seperate project.

Though it could also mean that they are working seperately on ideas for the same project. I'd prefer it if they were all gonna work together again of course.

So now we know...

*sniggers* sorry i can't read that phrase anymore without thinking of M+W

Me too!

The article is not written in a straightforward way...its the mention of The League leaving behind Royston Vasey which made me conclude this was the next project that the League are working on together, albeit in their usual writing pairs... :?

Time will tell

YEAH!

So there. But I forgive you for oh yeah-ing me, because oh the things Spike makes you do. Especially when he's having invisible sex with Buffy right in front of your eyeballs.

OK, I've read through this thread and am now totally confused.

Can someone confirm - are Jeremy and Mark definitely working on Psychoville?

Or not? The article makes it sound like it's Steve and Reece's project. I don't accept that you can interpret it as meaning Mark and Jeremy are working on it too...

Someone ask PBJ!

(I'd much prefer if it were all 4 working on it, not just Steve/Reece...)

SO EXCITED!

*runs in circles*

I hope it is the four of them though, I'd hate it if they were splitting up. Oops, that makes them sound like they are married. Oh well.

Strangely, I have yesterday's paper and didn't see it! I'll have to go and look properly.

Psychoville...doesn't sound very comforting, does it?!

Shitty title so far but sounds like it will be good though.

This is fantastic news! I love the title - it's so bad it's good.

I must say that I think the title sounds like it's trying to be a bit too obvious. I'd prefer something more oblique. That's what I liked about the title "League of Gentlemen" in the first place. It worked on a number of levels.

I mean, why not just go all out and call it "The dark princes of comedy" or something equally... well, you know!
