It was the excellent Lee Ingleby, who played Mole to Mark's Ratty in the tv adaptation of 'Wind in the Willows' a couple of years ago & was also in Mark's 'The Worst Journey in the World'...
Have we missed the cakes?

I watched the omnibus last night. It had me screaming into my duvet at the end bit, fantastic. The tension throughout was perfect, I want more now, fingers crossed that they let Mark loose on us again soon.

It was ace, wasn't it? Got steadily scarier and scarier! I thought the first story was just ok, really, but the second story was great, and the way everything tied together at the end was brilliant! Well done Mark!

My whole family were hiding behind cushions - and my sister and her boyfriend got very scared when the main guy phoned the ambulance and it turned out to be right by where they live (though quite why everyone was northern but lived in Windsor was somewhat confusing!). Hope they don't get home and find a scary doorknocker...

He was also the "too orangey for crows" SPACED episode.

I loved Crooked House completely. Loved it. It was tense and atmospheric and got the flavour of each era perfectly. My sister said the programme was tailor made for me cos it had everything I like in it. :)

All the cast were fab too. The only thing that was dodgy ... maybe ... erm- Mark's Edinburgh accent? Not so sure but bless him for trying and I've heard much worse. Plus, I never fancied him at all before this but 18th century Rhind-Tutt looking like teh sexxor Jonathan Strange was hatt.

The doorknocker reminded me of the one on Durham cathedral that gave me nightmares when i was wee. And the spooky blue room story in 'From Beyond the Grave'. I love MR James stories like 'Whistle and I'll come to you, my lad'. This certainly captured that atmosphere.

I'm still having nightmares about that horrible thing that attacked Ben, as he was turning the alarm off near the end. Terrified the life out of me!! Mark really is good with his twists isn't he?! Thought it was brilliant. :D

I have now watched this in it's enterity and is easily one of the best things on TV this christmas. It makes such a change from the obvious, lowest common denominator stuff that occupies much of the schedule and Mark, once more manages to mantain his high quality status!

Each of the three episodes were of the brilliant, though I think you had to go a long way to beat the last one, though the second one was a near contender. But if you have Jean Marsh in anything you can't go far wrong in my opinion!

There were so many twists and turns in each of the episodes that it just kept you on the edge of your seat! I loved the way that it wasn't really horrific in a gory way but in a unsettling, uncomfortable kind of way.It wasn't what you saw, but what you *didn't* see!

It just had everything, the whole cast were blindingly good,it was superbly directed, of course the writing was fantastic.

It's just a damn shame it was only 3 episodes! Lets hope this is well received and becomes an annual christmas event! Lets also hope that a DVD packed full of extra features and stuff is soon avaliable to purchase!

Bravo Mark! :D
