I'd say it was similar, I don't think he did anything 'worse' than in Borat.
At least he didn't sh!t in a bag this time.

Oh CT, I think we solved your mystery...Sasha Baron Cohen did it

I never saw Borat. Saw Bruno and thought it was ok. Started off more like a tv show but turned into a bit of a film. Only a couple (or one!) of funny bits for me but I don't laugh easily. That man is bloody brave though. Unbelievable.

Should be seeing Harry Potter tonight.

Anyone seen Harry Potter? It's ok but not much happens. Disappointing really.

There has been talk of Inglourious Basterds in the husband thread. Saw it last night. Really liked it. Loved the multi-lingual aspect. (Unfortunately the only German that came flooding back to me was Wo ist das Kino?! Did a bit better with the French.) Christoph Waltz is amazing in it. And now I have a better idea of who these people you lot go on about are - Fassbender and Eli Roth etc.

Sounds cool.

I know I've said on Facebook and Twitter a bit, but District 9 was astounding! It wasn't just a shoot-em-up alien movie at all. It jerks you around emotionally until you're not sure what end is up. I haven't felt so impacted by a film since Schindler's List (but to be fair I don't get to see a lot of movies in the theater, so take that as you will). Even better, I just heard that the entire thing was improvised! They had an outline to work from, but no script. Amazing!
The trailer looks good but kind of like an Independence Day. Glad to hear it's a bit more than that (not that there's anything wrong with that). Thought it must be great though because it's always a trending topic on Twitter. Not sure I'll get to see it but we'll see.

I felt really quiet and on the verge of tears for aaaages after I saw it, but wasn't able to explain exactly why. Definitely very affecting. And I got really freaked out the next day when I went in the pub and the barman's hand was covered in all these little scratches like Willem Dafoe's hand after he pulls the leeches off! Bit of a flashback!!

See District 9! See District 9! See District 9!

Could not agree more.

Saw District 9 yesterday. There are no words to describe how I feel about it. I thought I'd bore hubbie to death yakking about it, but he's as nuts about it as I am! He actually looked up Sharlto Copley on youtube and the imdb, afterwards- something I've never seen him do in the 14 years we've been together.

Can't believe I didn't go to see it while in America. It was just...best film of the year. Moving, thrilling, gripping, some layers to it and an absolutely fecking barnstorming performance by someone who's never even been in a film before! When they were forcing him to...you know...in the lab place- I was actually clutching my chest. It's cool that you mentioned Schindler's List, because for me it was like watching some sort of awful concentration camp Nazi Germany thing. And it's Copley that sold it as such.

But that's not even getting into how fookin' funny he was throughout the entire film- even when he's absolutely knacked. I actually felt embarrassed that I kept laughing at stuff, because I think the entire audience felt they were watching a sci-fi sobering human rights abuse drama of some type and how dare that girl laugh. Thank God I came home to read that other people thought it was funny, too. Like when he's in the most dire of situations and sees the thing under the thing and says "oh, this is very illegal...this is definitely going to be a fine". Because he can't stop being a middle manager type of guy! Or when the news sez "1-800-Stop-Wikus".

It was the humour of reality. And I loved loved loved it.

Three magnificent sci-fi movies in one year! Star Trek, Moon and this.
Hello my darling it's me again. Where are you?

It could get funnier if we keep doing it.

I saw district 9 last night & wasn't blown away. In fact I fell asleep before the end.

Also saw Drag me to hell the other day, again wasn't blown away but it had some good elements. A tad predictable.
