I'm not a Dr Who fan either, but I'm willing to give it a try purely because of Mark, Chris and because I hope they're gonna discard crappy effects.

As a hardened Doctor who Fan (15 year in fandom) :o ,now that chris has been cast as the Doctor,I've heaved a sigh of relief, the have actually cast a 'proper' actor. The verdict is out on Billie Piper, but you can see why the done it,the publicity it has got is fantastic. She may be good, apparantly she was good in canterbury tales. They wanted a assistant sort of Buffy-esque and you can see how she could be.... Just hope she doesn't bring the Ginger haired twat with her to a convention!

There's no reason why it shouldn't be good as man in charge Russell T. Davies has done some top work and Mark's scripts for the audio range have been outstanding,so her's hoping!

Well, I'm hugely dissapointed actually...I wanted Eddie Izzard to be the new Doc. But, the Beeb has to be fuddy and use Chris. He's a great actor, no doubt, but I just have visions of it being far too up it's own arse now...

Being a fan of the 80's Doctors (Peter, Colin, Sylv) and the inimmitable style of the wonderful Pat Troughton, I'd hope that the new series would reflect the lighter side of Who-dom. I feel I'm in for a dissapointment, however...

Ask me again fall 2005!

You should! Just, don't watch the US TV movie...a prime example of why we in the UK hate Americans mucking about with our shows!

I love eighties Doctor Who,after all that is when I grew up,though,I think the problem then that it WAS up it's own arse.that's why it got cancelled. Viewing figure would support this, the opening story of season 26(the last) got 4 million viewers. Not very good considering there was no digital oppistion and SKY was in't infancy. In it's hey day DW would get 19million viewers.

The writing was good in the last seasons, problem was you needed to be a fan and know something that happened in 1963 or 1971,to make sense of a story.whilst for fans like us,it was fab, to the casual it was nonsense.

There were other factors, such as,being opposite Corrie.

Just my humble opinion!

I watched it when I was a kid (Peter Davison), and I remember someone turning into Sylvester McCoy and being quite disturbed, but then I forgot all about Dr Who.
Then Vince on Queer As Folk was obsessed with it, and so ever since I associated Dr Who with QAF. So when Russell T Davies got the job it felt all meant-to-be-ish. So I am kind of excited for it to start, but mainly just because of the writers.

Every time I go in a bookshop I look for a Gatiss Dr Who book, but I NEVER find one. whyyyyyy?

One for Ex really.Your a bit of comic strip buff, they have just realised 'Dr.Who and the Iron Legion',which is basically Strips from the late 70's early eighties. It is done really well instead of all this old bollocks of colouring it they have left them black and white and remastered them, the quality is fantastic. There are about 7 stories in the collection. I think you can find details on

Worth having!

Not sure about the comic's. Never really been over keen on the Who ones I've seen. Have to say I much prefer the Ol' Marval stuff!

So, when is this convention then?

Or maybe everyone eats lots of mints, with holes in the middle.........!

Back on the con! Ton's of Groovy stuff to buy! Added to my collection of talking Daleks! Now have a complete set!

I also bought the other Radio Controlled Dalek I wanted so I now have a matching pair!

But they didn't have a bag big enough to put it in so I had to sit on the tube with it on my lap! People kept looking at me.One woman said,"that's neat is it for your child!"."Er no,it's for me I said" Followed by my most used line "It's not a toy,it is a collectable model!''

Also at the con, they showed an episode which only turned up after Christmas after being lost for 40 years from the 1965 story 'dalek Masterplan which was really good!!! Owning everything else that exists it was a rare event to see something 'new'!

That reminds me,do you all know on the Doctor Who DVD 'Earthshock' Mark is interviewed on an Documentry about the story as it is his fave! Good choice mark!!!

If any of you are closet DW fans, the Best DVD release is 'The Curse of Fenric',double disk set with Original broadcast story and extended Movie length version with 25 minutes extra footage, new GGI effects it is so good!

Doing the same with Ghost Light later in the year,so maybe it will now make some sense!

If you watched BBC four last night, they showed Part 1 of the 1966 story 'The Web of Fear',looked as though it had been nicely cleaned up!!!.

That's todays DW news done people!
