Here is a link to The Complete Collection of Father Ted which is available to pre-order. Definitely one for consideration I think:

Sounds like it might be special edition. You could buy them all together before, so it must be.

Ahh, Father Ted. My favourite bit is when he's going to kick Bishop Brennan up the a*se, and gets so afraid that the greatest comedy expression of all time comes on his face, and he sails right past him and out of the window.

Also like the sheep fixing episode, when the sheep cheat is wearing a crown he bought with his ill gotten gains. At least, I think it's the sheep episode.

Oh- and when Mrs Doyle, in an unusual move, bakes a jumper into a cake.
Hello my darling it's me again. Where are you?

It could get funnier if we keep doing it.

I still love the "those cows are just far away" and the "would you like a peanut" peanut dream. I maybe will get this DVD. My mum and dad hate Father ted for making fun of the priesthood (hence we never got to watch Dave Allen in our house). But being raised a Roman Catholic of irish descent, lets just say that the show has a certain resonance with me and my upbringing. I love it!

I am a Roman Catholic of Irish descent too! I get the feeling my parents won't watch it cos they think it's taking the mickey but they've never seen it I don't think. You should never judge something before you've seen it. But I just think they have no inclination to watch it rather than saying it is a bad thing to watch. In a way it is taking the mickey but you can't be too sensitive can you? It's still funny. I love it. Favourite bits are: Mrs Doyle's drawn out fall off the windowsill after putting the Christmas tree up I think. And also Nighty sleepy nighty night or whatever it is. I can't remember but it makes me laugh so much! Also 'Down with this sort of thing','Careful now'. Great show!

Yeah - my parents just wouldn't get it. They like Dad's Army so all the best to them.

I love the "priests trapped in the lingerie department", the stolen whistle and all the others mentioned. Some good quotes:

"Down with dis sort of thing"
"Careful Now!"
"NUNS - REVERSE!"
"Would you like to take your bra off?"
"DON'T TELL ME I'M STILL ON THAT FECKIN' ISLAND!!!"
"Hello, is that the Yin dynasty? Family, sorry, the Yin family."
"It's like a great big tide of jam. But jam made out of... old women"
"Spider-Baby- It's got the body of a spider, and the mind of a baby."
"D'you remember that feller who was so good at fashion they had to shoot him?"
Ted: "What was it [Jack] used to say about the needy? He had a term for them."
Dougal: "A shower of bastards."

My favourite minor characters are the couple that fight in private- Mary and Joe? "you've got a face like a pair of old t*ts" or something.

I must see them all again.

Top quote. My favourite?

"I love my brick."

I just finished watching the first series last night, really fun, but it does get kinda predictable, no? The one Father misunderstands everything, the other sorts it out, while the old one wakes up from a drunken state and says Feck Off! Are the following series better? Not to dis it too much, just saying that there didn't seem to be much distinction from one episode to the next.
