Never Mind The Buzzcocks

Post by Cheeky Chezzy Woo » Sun Mar 12, 2006 2:00 pm

Thought you should all read this (plus chat about the show seeing as i can't find a thread for it. I freeked out when i saw the ad last night seeing Johnathan Ross on the screen and asumed he had taken oever but thius statement says otherwise

Each episode of the new series of BBC TWO's Never Mind the Buzzcocks will be hosted by a different celebrity music buff from the world of music and entertainment.

Regular host Mark Lamarr is taking a well-earned break from presenting the show after ten years.

The line up of guest presenters taking hold of the reigns and in charge of the banter includes Jonathan Ross, Jeremy Clarkson, Dale Winton, Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Huey Morgan of The Fun Lovin' Criminals, Simon Amstell and Lauren Laverne.

Each week the guest presenter will have to fine-tune their knowledge of music and mastery of mayhem, in order to keep check on regular team captains Bill Bailey and Phill Jupitus.

The show has a satirical edge that proves the world of pop should never be taken too seriously.

Celebrity guests from the worlds of entertainment and music join the team captains as the guest presenter leads them through a series of quiz rounds, finding out if they know their Arctic Monkeys from their Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Viewers can expect the usual rounds such as 'intros' and 'identity parade' - where teams identify a former pop singer or band member from a line-up of similar-looking candidates.

Guests this series joining team captains Bailey and Jupitus include: Kenzie (Friday Hill); Anthony Costa (formerly of Blue); Alan Carr (The Friday Night Project); Colin Murray (Radio 1 and Five Live); Charlie Simpson (formerly of Busted); Tom Fletcher (McFly); and Fiona Phillips (GMTV).

With the show's reputation for the unpredictable, guests each week are primed for the occasional embarrassment and harmless ribbing.

The series will return to BBC TWO this Spring.

Notes to Editors

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is a talkbackTHAMES Production for BBC TWO.

This will be the 18th series. The programme first aired on the BBC in 1996.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is produced by Richard Wilson, Warren Prentice and Lucy Clarke, and Exec Produced by Alan Brown. The series is commissioned for the BBC by Katie Taylor.

No more Mark Lamarr! I saw the advert for it last night and screamed "NOOOOOO" very loudly.
Strange to think of that programme having a guest presenter, it'll still be brilliant! *counts down the days*

Hmm Jermey Clarkson and Dale Winton, you must be joking! I want Mark back :(. I am hoping he is just skipping this series, unless he firmly believes if the ratings go up, its doing better without him and decides not to come back

They did say Mark was "Taking a well earned break"
Or am I getting my hopes up?

I, for one, am glad. I stopped watching it mainly cos of Mark. He started to get on my nerves. I know you should expect a bit of ribbing when you go on the show and that's fair enough, but I started to think he was a misogynist. He seems to hate every woman that goes on there and tries to make them look stupid (which sometimes they are I admit). I know he tries to make a lot of people look stupid but it seems women in particular. He brings his own opinions into it too much and shows no respect for those he doesn't like the music of or whatever. (Maybe I'm bitter cos he hates Robbie!)

Lamaar was nice to some women. The ones he fancied.

I like him though. But I think it will be okay without him for a bit. As long as we still have The one and Only : Master Bailey.

Its wrong, he belongs to chat shows and crap bbc1 games shows, not cult gameshows of this sort. Apologies to anyone that are huge fans of Johnathan Ross.
