Blunder

Post by ChubbyTubby » Fri Nov 24, 2006 11:17 pm

A new comedy started on E4 last night called Blunder. I wasn't sure what I would think of it, but I gave it a go anyway. I wasn't impressed with it at all.

I only found one or two sketches funny, and even they wouldn't have worked if it hadn't been for David Mitchell, who I always find hilarious.

There was this mentality that 'If we just do aload of really stupid random things then it'll be hilarious.' I didn't get The Baron. It was just an extremely poor rip off of The Hitcher.

I didn't get what was meant to be funny about that woman either, who just speaks exageratedly.

Okay, so I did laugh during the sketch where the guy farts, and giggled a bit during the Kung Fu sketch, but overall I thought it was dire. The only thing stopping me from absolutely hating this show is David Mitchell. And the cute cat at the end.

It wasn't great.
But it did have the great Simon Farnaby! And like you say, The Mitchell.

And the kung fu sketch made me titter too. No one could look at that and not laugh.

Rest was rubbish though.

Hmmm. Oh dear. Why do I get the feeling the show's name is going to be used against it?

I thought the anti reality TV rant sketch was funny (and not just because of David Mitchell, honest) and the kung fu was amusing, even though I'd seen it before. And I loved the cat at the end because I knew what it was meowing.

Bit more misses than hits, I thought. :?

More topless Mitchell would be nice though heh heh

The rant was possibly the best thing. He obviously wrote that himself. He does good ranting sketches also i hate reality tv anyway so i agreed with everything he was saying.

Worst. Show. EVAH.

That little punk who used to be on the Fast Show- how dare he rip off the lecherous character Paul Whitehouse used to do. I mean, fair enough if you're going to do it well. But instead it's just agonising and insulting.

Apologies to anyone who likes him, but I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.*

*I'm not really. Just felt like saying that.

I was going to say it's not getting any better, but The Baron did make me laugh in the last episode (just the once, though).

Hang on, no Bowler Hatted Mitchell.

Right first time....

Not quite worst show ever. I'm old enough to remember Thompson.

I watched the cat in the car sketch the other day, thought that was quite funny. Still not that good though

There's something really desperate about it. It feels as though all the acts are trying to be Vic and Bob or something similarly surreal, and their failure is terrible. Plus there's that appalling whiff of "we're so HIlarious!"

i caught the tail end of an episode last night
terrible
didnt get the baron. just a bloke jumping around looking like a a cross between russel brand and the mustachiod member of the mighty boosh, and nowhere near as funny.
then there was something about women trying to be funny. It wasnt to my dissapointment.
then some joke about paedophiles in a park and a sign. No littering, no dogs, no paedos. to which they looked dejected and went.
i switched over after my funny bone failed to be merely scratched
gimmee a ra! and erm..another two!
Deviously arty page - please take a look

it was absolutely terrible - i watched the first episode of it, one or two bits made me giggle but it was worse than the charlotte church show.
its just comedians thinking they can get away with anything, channel 4 is slowly becoming channel 5 with all their crap and rudeness!

some guy screaming random shite about raping babies and screwing chairs as he scurries across the stage yelling randomness at everyone, while another one throws his balls about the place - just for a laugh....

terrible terrible show, i will never watch it again

I wrote more than everyone else in the whole thing, and I wrote more for other people.
Ah, that explains it then, you goit.
We filmed about another four hours of material probably, and then what we've got is what Channel 4 thought was the best.
Oh dear God!
it was just supposed to be a stupid, funny programme and that's it, really.
Except that funny got lost on the way there, eh? So now it's just a stupid programme. Kudos. A couple of the best comedians around in there, wasted on stupid.
People go into too much detail about what's funny and what's not.
Yeah. The detail's called "not laughing".
Malibu Man's alright, but I
Ripped him off a character from the Fast Show.
There's a lot of layers that some people won't get.
So THAT'S where the layers of funny went! Into the land of condescension!
Now what if one of the ladies you pull up did actually show you her 'spaniel'? as Malibu Man puts it?
"I would run away, run a mile, I wouldn’t want to. I'm frightened of them, I really am, especially big ones!"
Your journey to the dark side is complete, young Rhys Thomas.
