The Penny Dreadfuls - Also known as Aeneas Faversham

Post by a1tiptop » Sun Apr 01, 2007 11:41 pm

Who are they? Three young lads who do victorian-themed sketch comedy

Why should you care? They are very funny. They don't have a tv series yet, but they've played the Canal Cafe (that place the Gents played) and if they do another live gig near you, you should make every effort to see them. They had a radio series on BBC Seven.

Where can I find out more?

And here it is....

The Penny Dreadfuls are brilliant...& they are working on a radio series (at least thats what I've read somewhere & they have recorded something at Broadcasting House as well according to their website).

They were on top form last night in a very crowded Canal Cafe (such an important part of the Gents' history...in the lovely surroundings of Little Venice)

Tara - great that you got to meet them (was that after the show?) And just how tall is Humphrey...he is so tall (but then I'm looking from a perspective much closer to the ground... )
Have we missed the cakes?

I see from their blog that they played the re-opening of the BBC Radio Theatre a few days ago.

Yet another fantastic show last night. Very tempted to back and see them in sketchatron tonight., or I could just until I see them again at the Soho Review bar on the 22nd.

Make the time, you wont regret it. I've got a feeling that they're not gonna a be a little known secret for very long. I'm really looking forward to the soho review bar gig, they've made it into a bon voyage party so we'll have their set followed by a disco :D
