Isn't the word Grok from Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land? A bit of a scifi nerdy thing but I'm sure my memory is correct!

Scary clowns are freaky. Although old fashioned puppets freak me out!!
New ones of course not so scary.

it reminds me of those really nasty clown paintings that were popular in in the 70's (i think).

the ones that had the tear drop and made headline news (sometime long ago) for 'mysteriously' starting house fires!!!! i remember staying at my aunties house when i was a kid & she had one of the paintings up in the bedroom i was sleeping in :shock: i made my mum take it out of the room cos i was scared shitless of it!
