Reece is one of the leads in a new horror comedy currently in production, directed by Paul Andrew Williams (who directed the highly acclaimed 'London to Brighton'...)

From Isle of Man Newspapers:-

STARS GATHER TO FILM 'THE COTTAGE'
A FILM starring the Lord of the Rings' Andy Serkis will begin shooting in the Island today (Tuesday).
As well as Serkis, who played Gollum in the blockbuster trilogy, The Cottage will feature The League of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith and former Brookside babe Jennifer Ellison.

A spokesman for Isle of Man Film said the £2.6million production is a 'British comedy-horror along the lines of Severance, a recent Isle of Man Film success'.

Island regular Martin Pope, of Magic Light Pictures (Sparkle, Lawless Heart), will be executive producer while Paul Andrew Williams and Ken Marshall, the team behind the multiple award winning hit London to Brighton, will take on the directing and producing roles.

The production will use a variety of Island locations and will undertake a number of night shoots. Once filming is complete on April 13, cast and crew will decamp to Yorkshire for a further three weeks.

The Cottage

Post by Geoff Tipps' Joke Writer » Thu Mar 29, 2007 12:42 pm

From 'Guardian Unlimited'...

Paul Andrew Williams, director of the acclaimed London to Brighton, has secured £770,000 in lottery funding for his second film, The Cottage. Billed as a "black horror comedy", The Cottage will star Andy Serkis and The League of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith as brothers who kidnap a mobster's daughter, hole up in the woods and inadvertently stumble upon a dark rural secret. Production begins next month on locations in Yorkshire and the Isle of Man. London to Brighton, Williams's 2006 debut feature, was hailed by Guardian critic Peter Bradshaw as "the best British film of the year".

Actually, that sounds pretty promising! Cheers for the info GTJW.

Andy Serkis being something other than Gollum will be a nice change! And obviously Shearsmithsssss will be fab. Although the holing up in the woods business is ringing familiar bells...

I mentioned this to a friend the other day who seemed to know all about it and called it a cross between Dead Man's Shoes and Severance. Make of that what you will!

Oh dear, don't keeeeeel me for saying this, but Reece is looking...middle aged...in that second pic! I'm sure it's just the character's look, the blood and raggedness, and the facial expression, but I suddenly had this sense of him looking like...I don't know...a "dad", if that makes any sense. :/ I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but it shouldn't *be* allowed to happen to utter sexpots!

It was really bugging me but YES! It's the receeding hairline that makes him look different. And I'm sure Reece would be flattered by the comparison to his hero!

Bald Reece...

Post by Juliet Bravo » Fri Aug 03, 2007 7:41 pm

I think reece knew he didn't look particularly nice in this film -
he says so himself in his last blog to the Gents website:

"Its not a pleasant sight, let me tell you. I’m probably the most horrific thing in the film, and when you see it, you’ll realise that’s saying something!"

So I wouldn't worry that he's lost his looks just yet... its just a character. Not everything he plays can be Benjamin I guess.
