If you've not seen it its a bit like the Young Ones only 70s. You can get the first DVD set for less then a tenner in HMV now and its well worth getting if you've got the money to spend. Its got the Reece Shearsmith seal of approval as well (On I love the 70s)

see there is no excuse now ... Reece is a self-confessed Goodies fan cos he said on the Soundtrack to my life when he picked "The Funky Gibbon" as one of his songs. And his favourite Goodie is also mine - Dr graham Garden who, back in the day, i find strangely attractive even though i cannot explain why. Must be the sideburns

i am a bit skint at the moment but i intend to get it ...

I used to love it when I was little. And I fancied Graeme too.
The huge kitten scared me a bit though, like the cute killer bunny in one of the monty python films. it's a wonder I'm not phobic of fluffy animals.

Never liked The Goodies - my parents poisoned me against them. I was always told to watch Python and hate Goodies. Plus I hate Bill Oddie.

Sorry Stonesy.

I thought the exact opposite. Used to think Python was tory crap. Mainly because I'd never seen it. I've come to love it though. Its certainly a better programme in every way. But the two groups are from the same stable of people anyway. And its not like football where you have to choose. I can't understand how you can hate Bill Oddie though. Its like hating clouds.

Dunno why I hate him, he just makes my skin crawl. I think his watery lips don't help, plus he looks a bit like my Grandpa......... I hate Johnny Ball for some unknown reason too.
They didn't do a programme/something together that was frightening to a young child did they?

Bill Oddie had a kids show but it was only on in one ITV region. Perhaps they were on Swap Shop or Crackerjack or summat together.

Which region?

Am sure you could be right about just appearing on something like Crackerjack.

I don't mind the other two from the Goodies, well I prefer Graeme to Tim Brook-Taylor.
That quiz show they did recently was okay, better than Countdown anyway.

Have just reread this thread. Reece likes The Funky Gibbon? Noooooooooo

One google later;
http://www.paulmorris.co.uk/satkids/banana.htm

More than one region. Having googled I've just found out that the Goodies are massive in Australia. I bet the Canadians watched them as well. There's a few jokes nicked from them in Austin Powers.

I was born in '78 so I'm too young for that programme. Plus I was in the Granada and Meridian regions when small.

Must have been something else that triggered this.....

Thanks for looking Stonesy.

Goodies and the Beanstalk was on a Christmas. It wasn't as funny as I remembered. Infact I didn't laugh at all. I remember it being hilarous at the time!

I thought that. I think they aimed that one particularly at kids though.
